This is a copy of the folkinfo.org forum and database, which closed in December 2012.
It was a joint project where Jon Freeman ran the site, Dave McGlade posted most of the songs (including sources) and the late Malcolm Douglas added further notes, although everyone added songs and notes at times. It ran for about 10 years, with the objective of having more accurate versions and source notes than Mudcat, but that goal has been superseded by ‘The Full English’ (which has itself now been merged into the searchable catalogues at the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library) which is more complete and authoritative than anything we could have hoped to achieve.
Thanks to all who contributed their knowledge and hard work to folkinfo.org over the years.
When I copied the folkinfo.org database from Joe Offer's site in July 2025, I cleaned up the HTML code somewhat, fixed internal links, fixed the encoding of diacritical characters while converting the files to UTF-8 encoding (songs, ABC and SVG files, but not yet the PDFs), and added and corrected Roud, Laws and Child numbers.
Beware that there are a lots of external links that just don't work anymore after 13 years.
